If there was any question as to whether contemporary Christian music fans would embrace Backstreet Boy and Lexington native Brian Littrell, it seems

to have been answered on the cover of the January issue of CCM Magazine. Readers of the leading Christian pop journal voted Littrell best artist, best vocalist and his solo debut, Welcome Home, best album. The nods put Brian ahead of Christian pop veterans such as Chris Tomlin, Third Day and the David Crowder Band.In the CCM write up, that does mention his hometown, Littrell says, "I am extremely honored. It’s overwhelming to know that there are so many loyal fans that continue to support me — I am humbled."
The story also mentions that Littrell will be co-hosting the 2007 GMA Awards with Natalie Grant and Donnie McClurkin April 25 in Nashville, and that he is contributing to Glory Revealed, an album and tour of scripturally-based worship songs created by Third Day’s Mac Powell and author and minister David Nasser.
Also scoring with CCM readers were Aaron Shust as best new artist, Casting Crowns as best band, Jeremy Camp as best male artist (Brian was No. 3), Rebecca St. James as best female artist, Grits as best duo or group and Chris Tomlin as best worship artist and best songwriter (Brian was No. 2). Brian also topped five "niche" categories: best live performance, best song (Welcome Home, You), best song video (same), best album cover and artist you’d most like to see on the cover for the first time.
Can you feel the love?
The new issue also has what looks to be a good interview with Flyleaf, so I am outta here.
