You can still get lower arena tickets to the Black-Eyed Peas Feb. 17 concert at Rupp Arena, but if you don’t have tickets for Taylor Swift’s April 29 show – to borrow a phrase from the Peas’ Fergie — you’re so two-thousand-and-late.
Tickets to Swift’s Lexington appearance sold out in 10 minutes when they went on sale Friday morning, replicating the 20-year-old superstar’s box-office performance around the country. With teen-romance hits such as “You Belong to Me” and “Love Story,” Swift, seen primarily as a country act, has quickly sold out venues even in urban markets such as New York, and she clocked in as one of those rare stars to simultaneously host and be the musical guest on “Saturday Night Live.”
Black Eyed Peas’ Saturday on sale was also brisk, but maybe not quite as swift. A few minutes into the sale, pairs of lower arena tickets were back to the opposite end of the arena from the stage, but the arena reported Monday morning that some lower arena tickets are still available.
The Peas and Swift are two of the bigger concerts booked into Rupp in recent years. Also going onsale this weekend were tickets to Breaking Benjamin and Three Days Grace’s co-headlining tour, which hits Rupp Feb. 1.

Well, technically it did not sell out in 10 minutes – when you take into consideration the Taylor Swift fan club presale, American Express presale and Kelly Pickler presale…and yet the ticket scalpers still seemed to end up with the best seats in the house.

[...] At the close of business Wednesday, Rupp officials could not say what price levels will be available. Tickets for the concert were originally $26-$60.50 when they went on sale Dec. 11 and sold out in 10 minutes. [...]
