Pineville-based singer-songwriter Jimmy Rose will perform on NBC’s America’s Got Talent at 9 p.m. Tuesday night.

According to his Facebook page, Rose will be performing his original song Coal Keeps the Lights On, also the slogan for Friends of Coal, a West Virginia-based volunteer organization that advocates for the coal industry. There are a couple videos of Rose performing the pointed ballad, which namechecks his hometown Bell County High School Bobcats, on YouTube.

According to the Facebook page, Rose is a 32-year-old Marine veteran and father of two.

Kentucky has had a number of America’s Got Talent successes. The fourth season was won by Mayfield’s Kevin Skinner, and last season, Richmond sand artist Joe Castillo made it to the final round of the show.
