A few weeks ago we dropped the guest list for the Barnstable Brown Gala with numerous notable names. But believe it or else, there are going to be other celebs in Louisville going elsewhere Derby Eve or just showing up at the track on Saturday.
Chief among them is Jamie Foxx, the Oscar-winning actor who plays Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which opens Friday. Friday night, he headlines a Grand Gala lineup that also includes Oscar nominee Angela Bassett, versatile star Anthony Anderson, CBS This Morning anchor Gayle King and The Jacksons — Tito, Marlon, Jackie and Jermaine.
Like most Derby soirees, there will be a number of sports celebs at the Louisville Marriott East Friday night, including NBA greats Julius Irving and Scottie Pippen and Major League Baseball star Ken Griffey Jr. The Gala is hosted by hip hop legend Doug E. Fresh and model and TV personality Nicole Murphy.
One of the newer Derby Eve events is the Unbridled Eve Gala at the Galt House that boasts some TV star power including Beth Behrs, one of CBS’ Two Broke Girls, her co-star Jonathan Kite, ubiquitous voice and onscreen star Patrick Warburton, True Blood and 50 to 1 actor Todd Lowe, 50 to 1 star Christian Kane, film and TV star and Rosemary Clooney’s son Miguel Ferrer, Mad Men’s Michael Gladis, voice and onscreen actor Scott Grimes, World Series of Poker winner Phil Hellmuth, musician and TV star Ice T and his wife Coco, film star Jason Patric, romance novelist Nora Roberts, HLN anchor Robin Meade, Ms. Kentucky Kelly Anne Beile, radio superstar Rick Dees and musicians Kris Allen, Frankie Ballard and Landau Eugene Murphy Jr.
On the sports side, guests include quarterbacks Mark Sanchez and Warren Moon.
Other celebs you may see around, if you are at the Downs, and in our coverage, include Mentalist star Simon Baker, fashion maven Carson Kressley, model, sportscaster and NBA scout Bonnie-Jill Laflin, Kentuckian and Weather Channel star Sam Champion and, as we were just saying in a planning meeting, celebs have a habit of just showing up on Derby Day. We may not have heard the biggest name yet.
